The arts are an important means for involving the public in a celebration like this – and this celebration is as much about ‘the people’ as it is about Abraham Lincoln. “Lincoln’s values – freedom, democracy, equality of opportunity – are as important today as they were during his times. By keeping his image in front of us, Wendy Allen’s portraits of Lincoln remind of those values.
